UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The Audit Service of the Public Services Workers Union successfully convened its Regional Conference at the Catholic Social Centre on 08th August 2025.
Key Highlights of the Conference includes presentation of activity report covering the quadrennial and electing new leadership for the next tenure.
In his opening Address, the Chairperson Bro. Godwin Asanga welcome all delegates from the districts and Regional Leadership of the Union. He outline the objective of the meeting and encourage everyone to participate actively most especially in the election since it is a constitutional mandate to enable the continuity of the Union Work in the Region . Reminding members that the work of the Union is sacrificial so it demands the spirit of volunteerism. As members of the Union, we must be selfless and committed, “He added.”

The Industrial Relation officer (IRO), Sis. Doris Asoalla in her address, conveyed her appreciation for being part of the meeting. She said conference is not merely a meeting, it is a platform for reflection, renewal, and strategic action. As union members and advocates for ethical governance, we are entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the integrity of our institutions while championing the rights and dignity of our colleagues she said”.

She further added that Over the past year, the union has made commendable strides in promoting dialogue, improving working conditions, and strengthening collaboration with management and stakeholders. Yet, being mindful of the challenges that persist—ranging from resource constraints to evolving policy landscapes. These challenges demand not only resilience but innovation, unity, and bold advocacy, she added”.
She concluded by encouraging mmbers to deliberate on key issues affecting members, explore pathways for capacity building, reaffirm our role in shaping a more responsive and inclusive audit service and Electing leaders for the next tenure as the constitution demands and to approach the agenda set for the meeting with open minds, constructive spirits, and a shared vision for progress.
Bro. Godwin Asnaga presented activity report covering the tenure of his leadership from the year 2021 – 2025. the report contained activities such as:
Planned strategic meeting between Regional Executives Council and the IRO to plan for activities such as Capacity building training, Empowerment and Entrepreneurial skills training.
Present at NEC meetings, Actively Participated in the May Day Celebrations,
Participation in the SSNIT/TUC Ghana forum and taking part in the 11th Quadrennial conference held in Kumasi by PSWU.

The Ag. IRO dissolved the previous leadership.
There were nominations for the following positions: Chairperson, 1ST Vice chairperson, 2ND Vice ( women), Two Trustee, Secretary and Assist. Secretary.
At he end of the election, the following were elected:

The IRO administered the oath of office to the elected Executives.
The Re-Elected Chair Person Bro. Godwin Asanga in his acceptance speech, he extend a heartfelt gratitude to every member, every delegate, and every colleague of the Union who contributed to this democratic process. He said the confidence in him will is not be taken lightly. He pledged to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and solidarity that define the union.
He again said the moment is not about individual achievement—it is about collective responsibility. We are bound by a shared mission: to protect the rights of workers, to advocate for fair conditions, and to ensure that every voice within our union is heard and respected. He added.”
The conference brought together leadership from the Region, District, Branch, branch auditors, and Regional Union Executives to review , share experiences, strategize to provide a collective voice for workers’ rights, and can lead to greater economic and social stability within the union in the Region.
