As Tarkwa is ready to host the 39th National Farmers’ Day at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) this Friday, excitement is building throughout the Western Region. The event, with the theme “Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience,” intends to plan on maximizing the potential of the agricultural industry, particularly in the Western Region.

Prior to the national celebration, there is a Western Regional Farmers’ Day that attracts over 2,000 participants, including important authorities and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Farm inspections, choosing nominees for regional awards, and enlisting corporate support are all part of the preparation process.

The site of the regional event, Tarkwa Senior High, is ready to receive visiting guests. Widespread radio coverage of the event in Takoradi and Tarkwa has raised awareness of it.

In addition to commemorating farmers’ contributions to Ghana’s GDP, the festival honors the potential economic benefits of agricultural products in the Western Region and involves discussions with area officials.
