NABDAM – DCE CHARGES YOUTH TO TAKE SOCO ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMS SERIOUSLY

As part of activities and programs of the SOCO Youth Led component of the Gulf of Guinea Northen Social Cohesion Project, SOCO Project, about 30 members of the youth of the Nabdam District Assembly were carefully selected to undergo a 6-month youth entrepreneurship skill training program. Among the various topics to be taken through the training program included; weaving, dressmaking as well as rearing. The beneficiaries who were made up of 10 males and 15 females were given start-ups equipment and tools for the half year skills training program.

10 sewing machines and 5 weaving looms were given to the 15 females beneficiaries and 50 rabbits distributed 5 each in a cage to 10 young male farmer beneficiaries.

In a short ceremony at the Nabdam Assembly to present the start-up tools, the District Chief Executive for the Nabdam Assembly Madam Agnes Anamoo urged the Ghanaian youth to take advantage of entrepreneurship skills training programs very seriously so as to better their lves anytime opportunity of such comes their way. She adviced the beneficiaries to take proper care of the start-up items presented them so as to drive maximum benefit from them after their training.

The Upper East Regional Focal Coordinator for the traing program Mr. Alhassan Atubiga encouraged them to take lessons that were to be taught them very seriously. This they could do by respecting the training facilitators and following their directives so they could be well impacted. He re-echoed SOCO’s commitment to assist in the training of more youth in the District and in the region in general.

On her part, the Nabdam District Director of Centre for National Culture, Madam Gkadys Ayamga who was the officer incharge of the training expressed her appreciation to the Assembly and its SOCO project partners for the initiative assuring them of her outfit’s preparedness to take the beneficiaries through the various components of the training program. She intimated that the training when completed would better place the beneficiaries above many of their peers.

The SOCO project is a 5-year World Bank funded project being implemented in 48 districts of Northen Ghana including all the 15 districts of the Upper East Region which the Nabdam District has been one.
